Don't WASTE Waste

Per capita waste generation is increasing by 1.3% per annum while the urban population is increasing between 3 - 3.5% per annum. This has lead to the yearly increase in waste generation increase by 5%. India produces more than 42 million tonnes of municipal solid waste annually. The per capital generation of waste varies from 200 gm to 600 gm per capita per day with an average generation rate at 0.4 kg per capital per day in 0.1 million plus towns. How can we afford to ignore this problem?
